Demoni Vankil is the prequel to Chronicles of a Hero, and provides the background and foundation nearly 700 years before the main series starts. The following list should be read in order.

Season 2
Chronicles of a Hero is the epic fantasy adventure of our accidental hero, Wendell P. Dipmier. Inspired by the original comic book series (see bottom of this page), this story is being written from Wendell’s perspective, in serial format, new chapters released each week.
WARNING: Parents, please preview this before recommending to your kids. My stories are ‘social agenda free’, but they do contain fantasy violence & highly stressful situations.
When the Gem awakens to call a Hero, the world is ill prepared...and its fate is placed in the hands of a 17 year old boy, named Wendell.
Some will say this is nothing but a tale of fiction.
Let them think as they may.
After all...I can't fix stupid.
If I could be anyone, it wouldn’t be me - “Hey!” I bellowed. But then I thought about it. “Never mind. We’re talking about girls. Two outta three is good enough.”
BAMPH! - The monster loomed even closer, our noses almost touching. “Hey. Time’s tickin’ and I ain’t got patience for stupid. You understand the words I’m sayin’, kid?”
Blueberries are evil - All the worst horror movies I’d ever seen flashed through my mind in one continuous panorama of terror, dismemberment, and gore.
Dragons - “If you’re in control, why are your legs shaking so hard?” Doubt taunted.
Hell - Merging? …are you a Borg or something? Am I being assimilated? No, you’re too polite to be a Bor—WHO ARE YOU?!?
The Perfect Distraction - “Distance is irrelevant in this matter. Especially when you side with the unembodied.” He gave me a weak smile. “Nothing you need to concern yourself with, my friend.”
Intruder - A singular scream ripped through the night air.
Fault - Dax looked over my shoulder, getting all worked up. He flashed a wide, toothy, freaky-looking grin. “Gnomes have the coolest sports on Elämä!” he exclaimed.
Dreams & Reality - Why do girls have to be so pretty? It’s not that I mind, because I don’t, but…it always throws off my cool groove.
Hungry? - The wizard shook his head. “Fämäli. You say it like ‘fah-MALL-ee’, but I guess it sounds like family when you have a southern lisp like yours.”
Field Trip - Dax sneered at me. “You ain’t funny.”
Black Market - “And I PAID the farmer for his barn, AND his cow, AND his horses, IN FULL!” Adjusting his hat, “POINT being that I happen to KNOW the Verrdrä.”
Perspicacious - Dax pushed between them. “Everyone shut up.” Placing a large ear against the door, the other ear twitched. “Höbin, you still got your tools?”
Roadkill Tavern - “Wow,” grumbled Dax, “you ever gonna let that go? How was I supposed to know that a place surrounded by water would be so flammable?”
The Not-So-Great-Escape - “What’re ya DOING, kid??!” he yelled. “MOVE YER BUTT!!” Alhannah shoved me forward, just as the scouts crossed the dragon’s path.
Being Noticed - Be you long enough...so all anyone remembers is the good you do.
Ambush (includes audio)- Chuck frowned back. “I said I was sorry.”
Return of the King (includes audio)- The gnome whispered between muffled giggling. “Your shirt’s making googly-eyes at the brunette.”
Bad News - “Well,” said Chuck, scratching his head, “…THAT sucked.”
RUN - Tha-THUMP-Thump! Tha-THUMP-Thump! Tha-THUMP-Thump!
Season 3
Discovered (includes audio)- “There are no maul marks on him. It looks more like he’s been beaten up.”
Under Attack (includes audio)- A howl cut through the night. A shrill sound to make one’s blood run cold. It lingered, the tone drawn out and slowly fading away.
Hiram (includes audio)- “I told you to SHUT UP!” Evan growled, and he kicked me in the thigh. “My little brother just took an arrow for YOU."
Rerun (includes audio)- I fell back, raising my bleeding arm in the air. “CUT!” I yelled….”POISONED!”
We’re Not Alone - I was so caught up in my own thoughts, I never noticed Miriam approaching. The shock flipped the book from my fingers. It slid across my thigh and fell out of view.
Into the Fire - And then I heard it. Through the wind and through the gentle feelings in my mind and heart. Drums.
Trapped - If I could convince Miriam that Hiram’s death wasn’t my…
Voices - “I was around the last time Ithari chose a host…and I know for a fact that you’re not the only one using that body."
Attack - Chuck let out a little giggle, then cleared his throat. "Here they come," he said, nodding at me most seriously.
Misunderstanding - Neither of the soldiers reacted, confirming what I’d already suspected. They couldn’t hear it. Why doesn’t anyone ever hear this stuff but me?
The Final Peace - I am the host of Ithari… no, I AM THE HERO… and I CAN COMMAND FIRE!

Morty’s Surprise - They all laughed. That is…until the windows exploded.
I’m A Little Tea Pot - “Then get in," Morty nudged him. "I’ll get you across town as fast as I can.”
Motherboard - “Whose this guy?” asked Alhannah abruptly. “And what’s he doing to Wendell?”
No Choice - “What are you going to do about this, Deloris?” he said softly.
Down The Rabbit Hole - “That was how many stages it took to develop him from mentally retarded to omnipresent.”
The Truth About Lies - The vallen stepped forward and Dax refocused his attention on the enemy.
Past, Present, and Future - Trust yourself. You will then be able to see.
Familiar Comforts - Somewhere in me, I could feel the change in tone. Doubt was smiling as well.
In The Beginning - Chuck opened his mouth to reply, but Dax growled from his chest.
The Big, The Fat, and The Rich - Looking around at all their faces, I tried to process the crazy idea.
Cheap Trinkets - The smiley face on my shirt squinted at Chuck warily. He waved it off. "It'll be fine."
RATS - I shifted on my feet, wondering just how much trouble we were about to stir up this time.
Burt & Ernie - It blew me away that such little people had built all this.
Learning to Walk - Through the camera display, I saw Alhannah rub her eyes and growl as I fell flat on my face for the seventh time.
We Have Takeoff - “But am I good enough to compete with the pros?”
Defense, Doors and Dancing - “We are the backbone of the S.L.A.G. pilot!” Freak declared proudly.
Darcy Dunnit - “You don’t think you’ll actually take the title back, do you, Red?”
Trench Wars - “GET YOUR BETS IN PLACE,” the announcer screamed, “BECAUSE WE START IN TEN… NINE…”
Too Close - “You want this to be about the people. The underdogs. I get that. But what you haven’t noticed is that’s exactly what we’ve given you.”
Smile For The Camera - “I’ll give you the finger—sorry! I mean, I’ll point at you, and then we’ll start, ok?”
SEASON 5
Face to Face - She placed her other hand over our handshake and smiled at the wizard. "Charles, it's fine. He was just doing what he felt was polite. Be patient."
Let’s Tango - “Roll, Dax—NOW!” Nat yelled, his voice cracking.
Bad News - “Do you think this is as bad as you’re leading on?” I asked.
Turn of Events - Great. I get to beat up a girl.
Getaway - “Time to leave,” growled Dax, quickly rising to his feet.
Wolves Among Gnomes - He raised his hand mockingly to his mouth. “Oh my! I did it again.”
The Next Step - I made a deal with the devil.
Outside The Box - School bullies didn't seem so bad anymore.
Beat Down - Turnpike raised his fists. “In yer dreams, dirtbag.”
It’s Just Garbage - My eyes fluttered open just in time to see two figures looming over me.
Forgotten - Is the government selling us out…or just selling us?
Revenge - “HAHAHAHA!” the elf screamed, spittle foaming on his lips.
Escape - I scanned the group, checking who they’d grabbed.
Secrets - “Mahan’s pink panties…” she moaned.
Fist and Face - “You know what they’re talking about, don’t you?” Morty said, mid-chew.
All For Nothing - Bellows must’ve seen the confusion written all over me.
The Important Things - “She looks like she’s doing better,” I whispered.
Second Chances - “I was doin’ my civic duty—givin’ those guys jobs! How was I supposed to know they’d stab me in the back!?”
Fair Play - “This just got personal,” she whispered.

The Chase - Dedicated to Jethro Tobbert the gnome who originally introduced me to the game of Bloodsticks. I hope you rot.
The Job - “Mills said that you’re behind schedule on the magic and gate lore assignment, so this is the only job he has for the next few months."
Day One - It's a justified rule that visitors aren't allowed to keep their port key when they arrive at the Black Market. It would spiral the place into chaos.
Perspicacious - “Mr. Höbin, to w-what do I owe t-this p-pleasure?” His thin, gnarled finger trembles ever-so-slightly as it pushes the small bifocals up his long, hawk-like nose.
Day Two - No, that can’t be. My mind stumbles back to my discovery five short years ago, uncovering the greatest mystery of my career. The Demoni Vankil.
Mr. Keeley - I don’t want to go in. Haven’t set a foot inside this, or any other gambling hall, for over a decade. Not since my wife died.
How to Lose - “Are we all ready?” he says casually, but there’s a sly grin on his face that…bugs me. Course I can’t stand the man anyway, so maybe it’s a personal thing, I’m not sure.
Day Three - Funny, with all the money Akland Cooper made over the years running The Whipped Mule, I would have thought he’d live in a nicer place.
Castle Andilain - The pungent odor fills the air and guarantees that I'll have some privacy. Slapping my dried bread right next to it, I flick out my dagger and cut a chunk off, popping it into my mouth. Mmmmmm. Tangy.
Mr. Nishant - There’s no way this guy is a mägo. He has manners. I wonder if the scribe mistook Nishant for an opportunity seeker. Answer a few questions I wouldn’t be able to check…and get a free drink or three.
Trail of Blood - “Farrah, I’m sorry to have to ask this—but is there anything else you can tell me? What did they take? Did anyone see the killer leave the room?”
Day Nine - “I need…” I start to say, but the words bind up in my throat. My chest heaves. “I need,” but the words won’t come out like I want them to. Someone kill me now!
Pee in a Bottle - “Urine!?” he blurts out. “You…want…pee?! From…a dragon? BWAHAHAHA!!!”
Double or Nothing - “Then, with the Triad as witnesses, I pledge myself as payment. Not my flesh, but my cybernetics, including the schematics I have in my room.”
The Final Pieces - When my mind finally puts all the pieces together — the flash of events which just took place and what I just risked on a hunch — my hands tremble.
EPILOGUE - Didn’t get rich like I hoped, but I have enough for food and drink until I can get another job. That’s good enough.
