UPDATE: The Gates Are Open — and Everything Has Changed
By Höbin Luckyfeller, Gnome Scribe and Reluctant Optimist
Well now.
That didn’t take long to spiral out of control in the best possible way.
I was down in the Vault—cataloging another embarrassing incident involving Wendell, a haunted spoon, and the collapse of an entire street market—when Jaime burst in with parchment, ink-stained hands, and this wild gleam in his eye.
“It’s time,” he said.
And I, being the intelligent one, asked, “Time for what?”
His answer?
“To open the gates. All of them.”
🛡️ The World Just Changed
For years, the living stories of Chronicles of a Hero…and the deeper mysteries of Life of Fiction…were protected behind a barrier. A paywall. A locked door to keep the fire burning.
But something shifted.
We started listening harder.
Reading messages from readers.
Rethinking the purpose of the world we’ve built together.
That’s when Jaime did something bold.
Something rare.
He gave the stories back to the people.
🔓 What’s Now Free to Read:
The entire Chronicles of a Hero serial
Demoni Vankil, the prequel novel
All 13 issues of the original comic book series
Dozens of articles, lore drops, podcasts, and creative insights
And more still being unearthed from the archives
In short, if you’re new here (or haven’t subscribed yet) …there is nothing stopping you from diving into this world and getting lost in the adventures of Wendell, Chuck and Dax (and the rest of our oddball crew).
No gate. No obligation.
No excuses.
💡 Why We Did This
We realized something important:
You’re not just here for more content.
You’re here for connection.
For meaning.
For stories that make you feel again.
And while there’s still a private circle for those who want to go deeper (and we do reward our Citizens and Mythforgers with exclusive lore, creative tools, and access to The Fiction HUB)… the heart of this world is now open for all.
Because stories like these?
They’re meant to be shared.
🤝 Help Us Rebuild Wonder
If you’ve ever laughed at a Wendell blunder…
Felt something stir in your soul from a twist of fate…
Or remembered what it was like to believe in heroes again—
Please, share this with someone.
Tell a friend.
Forward this post.
Invite a fellow dreamer who needs a place to belong.
We built Life of Fiction so people could rediscover imagination—and it only grows stronger the more people step inside.
We’re here.
The world is alive.
The fire is warm.
Come in…and bring someone with you.
