The Author Edition of Choices Is Here

For a long time, I’ve tried to make peace with the way big platforms treat authors.

I’ve played by the rules. I’ve formatted, reformatted, re-uploaded, simplified, trimmed, and shaved corners so stories would fit neatly inside someone else’s system. And for a while, that felt like the cost of reaching readers.

This is 100% why I moved to Substack…and why I love it here.

But over the last few years…especially recently…it’s become clear that those systems [cough-Amazon-cough] aren’t built for depth, care, or long-form storytelling anymore. They’re built for speed, greed, volume, and creative control. And increasingly, they make it harder for authors to offer richer, more complete versions of their own work…and still be able to make a living.

So I’ve made a decision.

Instead of allowing someone else’s marketplace take the majority of the profits, or create derivative versions of my work without compensating me, I’m selling them on my own.

Today, I’m releasing the Author Edition of Choices, now available directly from my own website.

This edition is 746 pages long, and it’s the most complete version of Choices that has ever existed.

It includes:

• The full novel

• Wendell’s journal entries

This is the version of the book I always wanted readers to have…the one that breathes.

I’m also actively working on two physical editions:

• A paperback Author Edition

• A Collector’s Edition hardcover - with high end features, maps and art

Those are in progress now. But the digital Author Edition is live today, and it’s available through our Payhip store, which means:

• no algorithm throttling

• no silent delisting

• no sudden policy changes

• no “recommended edits” from a system that doesn’t read the book

Just the story, as intended.

I want to be clear about something: this isn’t about anger or rebellion.

It’s about sustainability.

If I’m going to keep building worlds, releasing weekly chapters, publishing lore, and keeping the main story free, then the books themselves need to live somewhere that respects that work.

Selling directly lets me do that.

If you’ve already read Choices, this edition offers a deeper, more intimate experience…especially through Wendell’s own words.

If you haven’t read it yet, this is the best possible place to start. In fact, I’ve changed out The Ultimate CHOICES Starter Bundle with the new author version as well.

As always, the Chronicles continue to be released freely. That hasn’t changed. What’s changing is how the finished, expanded versions of these stories are preserved and shared.
