I agree with Höbin, Fascinating. What my mind drifts to is why we’re these letters so safeguarded? Why a extremely intricate puzzle box? What makes them so important that they weren’t just put in usual place you would put your private mail... like... I don’t know the bottom of your sock drawer? it just makes me wonder what valuable information is hidden. Who would want it? And why send it to His wife? So many questions!!!!!
There are many questions that simply didn't get answered, Joseph.
I believe I can answer the question about the puzzle box, however.
To this day, I have many Kotullum friends and associates, and they are a curious lot. One of the things they tend to do, is keep their hands busy. It's a cultural thing. You'll be hard pressed to find a "lazy" dwarf. Industriousness is in their blood.
No, I do not have proof of this, only examples from real life and personal associations...but I believe that puzzle box was a creation to stave off boredom. It was then used at a future time to house the letters.
Again, this is only a hunch, nothing more. But there, you have my opinion.
I absolute adore reading this again! From the posting of the very first chapter, I remember sitting on a plane to Phoenix absolutely devouring the whole book when I first got my hands on it. I find the same excitement and curiosity coming back, the same draw that made me fall in love with you world.
I'm so excited for this Jaime and I absolutely can't wait for the rest to come ❤️
Wow!
