Readers want the faster pace in development.
I wonder if that's because there is a week between installments. If this were a novel you were reading and Wendell developed as fast as my subscribers wanted him to, a novel reader would likely say, "That pacing's too fast..."
I think it is actually perfect. In a novel, we'd just stay up all night reading. That anticipation and eagerness is just how that plays out in a serial, I think.
