This week’s Morning Coffee was equal parts heart, hilarity, and humble gratitude.

I started with a hypnotist joke and ended up bleeding (not me, thankfully), all while trying to keep my emotions in check and honor Memorial Day with the reverence it deserves.

💬 Key Highlights:

  • Memorial Day Reflection:
I shared my wish to rename it “Gratitude Day,” reflecting on my Uncle Bob—who came back from war when none of his buddies did. We remember, we honor, and we’re deeply grateful.

  • Keturah’s Miracle:
Our granddaughter, Keturah (meaning walk with God), had a rough start with a life-threatening birth defect. But after a string of genuine miracles—including a successful surgery—she’s going to be okay. We’re exhausted, but deeply grateful.

  • Birthdays Galore:

    • Wesley of Mirth (May 29th)

    • Zion (turned 13!)

    • Jonathan (May 13th)

    • Also: Happy May Birthdays in general. Ruby, Wynnie, my Grandpa (RIP), Angelina, Joseph Vickery. Strong month. Good movie vibes.

  • New Faces & Old Friends:

    • Welcome to Ankita and Helena!

    • A special shoutout to Kevin Duncan, a stellar writer I’ve followed since my daddy-blogging days. He’s now a big deal at Kindlepreneur. Wonderful man, brilliant writer, now a Founding Guardian here on Life of Fiction.

  • Wanted Hero Day Is Coming:

    • Post goes live tomorrow (May 27th).

    • No live event this year—family first.

    • Expect gifts, discounts, and once-in-a-lifetime treats.

    • Wendell and Wanted Hero turn 21! I turn 56. That's… math.

  • Looking Ahead:
After all that’s happened, I’m rethinking how I run Life of Fiction—wanting to build something more sustainable. More teaching. More stories. Maybe even classes and projects with Kindlepreneur.

😂 Things I Learned This Week

  • Zombies aren’t the only danger. Chicken coops and metal pipes are a close second.

  • Bendragon is a hero. Came to help build a coop. Ended up braining himself with a steel tube. Got stitches. Came back to finish the job. Legend.

  • You never know what a nap with oxygen can solve. Still not sure what problem it fixed, but it helped.

  • This community is insane… and I love it.

You are MORE than you THINK you are!

Until Next Time,

Jaime *I’ll-get-rest-eventually* Buckley
