I’m taking you on a bit of a rollercoaster ride through what’s been happening recently.
I’ve got a big trip coming up—heading to Missouri for my sister’s wedding—and it’s the first time my wife and I are going on vacation without the kids.
I’m excited but also dealing with the recent loss of one of my dearest friends, which has me reflecting on being the last grandparent and father-in-law in my family.
But it’s not all heavy stuff—I’ve got some incredible, heartwarming stories to share about the kindness you all continue to show me.
Your thoughtful gifts always arrive at the perfect time.
The microwave version:
Reflecting on Fear and Growth:
I start off talking about a personal journey, facing fears I used to have and how, with a little help, I learned to stand tall and push forward. It’s a good reminder that life isn't always as scary as we think.Wedding Road Trip:
I'm gearing up for a road trip to Missouri for my sister's wedding, and here’s the kicker—my wife and I are going without the kids for the first time…ever. People keep teasing us, asking if we’ll even like each other without the kids around. Spoiler alert: we will!Dealing with Loss and Family Reflections:
I also open up about losing one of my close friends this week. That hit hard. It’s made me realize I’m now the last grandparent and father-in-law in the family. I don’t know if it’s true that life starts taking more than it gives when you hit 50, but it sure feels like it sometimes.Life’s Highs and Lows:
Life has a funny way of balancing out the highs and lows. I’m feeling the loss, but I’m also finding joy in the little things. It’s all about keeping a steady hand, even when it feels like things are slipping away.Your Generosity and Perfect Timing:
This part always gets me—you all are just amazing. The timing of your gifts just blows my mind, which always seem to show up right when I need them most. I opened a package last night, and once again, I was blown away by your kindness. Seriously, I can’t thank you enough.Plans for the Future:
Before I sign off, I talk about what’s coming up—don’t worry, even though I’ll be on the road for almost two weeks, everything’s already scheduled. You won’t miss a thing. And yes, I’ll still do our Monday Coffee, but it might be unedited and straight from my phone. That’ll be interesting, right?
Love you, VERY much.
THANK YOU for the much needed pads AND the headset [I’m still smiling]…both will make a huge difference to my work schedule and productivity.

😉Ok, ok. I hear you. I *promise* that once the cover art is done, and a few other things my stories will be rolling out in ebook format!
THANK you.
...just sayin'...I'm REALLY looking forward to them.
As for your covers... KEEP THE SMILEY! I would be so sad if it wasn't the cover. They are so iconic.
That has been EVERYONE'S reply.
Okay,....that does it.
Farland was correct.
I'll find a way to make this work.
Thank you for the input, Kummer. I treasure community participation.
You are very welcome! 😊
Yay!!! That's great news!!!
sending prayers, love, and healing hugs to you and your family always.
Thank you little sister.
Love & prayers right back to you in truckloads!
Enjoyed the morning coffee today — the positive vibes and, while I don’t like to use the word simply because it’s overused, the “authenticity” — it’s the right word. But I’m a fan of both you and Simon K Jones, as you know. Here’s a confession: I have never read comics, not since Donald Duck as a child… not that I wasn’t interested, just haven’t gotten around to it. Have a good time in MO. Don’t know if you’ll be in St. Louis, but my brother is there, so say hello. 😊
Funny thing, Shannon, is that the very first comic book I ever sold, was to a 55 year old woman who had never read a comic book in her life...but as so floored that one would be on the internet, she spent a buck, read mine, then contacted me via email.
We became the best of friends, and Deborah Harper became one of my greatest advocates online for almost 7 years.
Funny thing is....this is about the story.
It's not about the method of the telling...though I try and make sure to prepare as many forms as I am able, so it can reach as many hearts as possible.
I now have a preferred mode of storytelling, and it's print.
Me,...the author/writer/creator...and though I love comic books as a medium, I'm not sure when I'l ever get back to that from of storytelling.
So like what you like, Shannon....doesn't matter what it is.
If I can create it for you, I will.
...that is my commitment. =)
Well, keep doing what you’re doing. I’ll catch up as I can!
That is what I am here for....to create a smorgasbord of fictional content, for you nibble...OR gorge yourself on...at your good will and pleasure!
You remember to keep writing YOUR amazing story!
...priorities.
Ohhh… interesting timing for you… Loss and adventure and so much coming up… Love to you back! Have a fantastic trip! 🎈🧸🫶
Two journeys this week, huh? One not ideal, saying goodbye to a friend, but the other will be good for your soul. Safe travels, and thanks for continuing to show up and visit on Monday mornings. 🥰 I love our visits. 😉 Which is kinda odd to say, since it's one-sided, but I talk enough. It's good to just listen.
HAH! NONE of you talk "enough".....LOL
...more, please.
Yes, I will do all I can to always show up, share the love, the challenges, and most importantly, the joy and adventure....where I get to point at each of you and REMIND YOU:
YOU are MORE than you THINK you are!!!
I love that message! It resonates with me every time you say it! TY!
[...leans forward and whispers....]
....because it's truuuue.
I'll keep sayin' it until you know it and feel it, and it resonates to the core of your bones.
You have INTRINSIC VALUE, Ann.
...intrinsic.
It's one of my favorite words.
[smile]
Ok, that got to me❤️
Wait,....someone is actually LISTENING to me??
...ARE THE REST OF YOU HEARING THIS!?!!??
LISTEN to the old fiction guy who spends too much time alone in a room with no windows talking to figments of his own imagination but wants everyone to be happy and come to an innate understanding they are, indeed, wonderful, and worth more than what this bat-cr*p crazy world says they are worth...BECAUSE THE CRAZY OLD MAN IN RIGHT!!!!!!
[...sprinkled with glitter and unicorn farts...]
Was that too far?
...that was TMI, huh.
DANG IT!!
(ALMOST had it there.....)
You are spot on!!! Don't ever change! ❤️❤️❤️
