Ohhhh, I just realized that for Part 2 I'll have to go into a story I've buried since 2004.
It has to do with death, mourning in Nevada, drinking a LOT of alcohol...and then winning at the slot machines (including a jackpot) to fund the Wanted Hero comics.
Wow... just... wow... my respect for you just doubled by the way.
And what I think is one of the greatest characters in writing. Has to be Spider-Man. By the very person you mentioned wrote heroes Stan Lee. Just how relatable he is. Compared to every other comic character in his time. without the age gap, dealing with average teenage problems such as trouble with girls, money, and being bullied. But also being a genuinely good person that people want to be.
Just saying there is a reason he is so popular and will be for probably forever.
...and I collected so many Spiderman comics exactly beCAUSE I could relate to him, just like you mentioned. He was believable, too. There were times when you think, "That could happen to ME!"
I appreciate your feedback, buddy.
Do you have any others you feel you could relate to in the cartoon/comic realm?
One of the first fictional characters that came to mind is Forest Gump. Simple mindset of love & friendship, without over-thinking -- just living -- doing what needed to be done in the moment. On the flip side, Roland Deschain, Stephen King's Gunslinger. Tough as nails, other-worldly determined, dedicated to his role/craft, & at the core, love drove a lot of his actions.
I never read much of King -- had a lot of trauma growing up, so horror was turned up to 20 for me. However, was Roland the character from the Dark Tower?

What a fantastic point, Joseph!!

Itβs about time I found this.

Love those examples, Neil!

Yes, Roland is from the Dark Tower. I wouldn't say that series is horror, in the truest form. Maybe dark epic fantasy?.
I know movies rarely do justice, but I watched that and thought he was one of the coolest characters I'd seen in some time.
For me & my image of Roland (& the story) it was a huge injustice. Roland's a great character.
Not surprising.
Happens too often with movies.
