I love the concept of rune magic and imagine the possibilities? Let’s not even mention endless magic item and possibility but imagine a dwarf with runes maybe tattooed or even scarred onto his body? That just sounds so cool.
In the ttrpg I play with my sons, I have a character named Icebeard, a dwarf hunter,...and he is literally covered in tattoos to hide the runes he has over his skin.
The combinations of skin contact ‘spark’ them so the magic can be used. Weapons, minor healing, enhanced attributes (hearing, sight),...and my favorite...summoned pets.
